Our school robotics team, the Mountso Makers, have returned from the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Wollongong Regionals full of excitement.
The team did extremely well and were awarded the tournament “Research Award” trophy. This means that out of the 35 teams, Mountso Makers presented the judges with an exemplary project that clearly analysed a problem to do with mental health in space, developed a highly innovative, well thought out solution and presented it in a creative and original way.
The team developed ‘Mecha Pet’, a solution to supporting astronauts with isolation and loneliness whilst away from their support network on Earth.
In addition to the project, the team also had to demonstrate the ‘Core Values’ of the FLL at all times and develop an autonomous robot to complete a variety of tasks.
The Mountso Makers have performed extraordinarily well for their first ever time competing and we look forward to entering the tournament again next year.
